Goalkeeping is such a specialised position probably the most important position within football but also at amateur level one of the most neglected. We have all heard the phrase 'go on Johnny, you go in the nets this week' and to be honest 99.9% of amateur clubs will be run like this week in, week out.
In 2009 Springfields began to offer goalkeeping coaching within the club. Unfortunately this didn't work out but the seed was planted.
In late 2010 Dave Harrison was approached by Iain Hall who was looking to move to a bigger club which offered better opportunities and more of a challenge within the goalkeeping field. During the 2011 closed season, Iain started with three keepers but once we hit pre-season, the majority of keepers within the club were using this facility.
Hopefully, by winter training 2011 all the keepers within the club will have used this facility.
Iain is a qualified goalkeeping coach who has been involved in management since 1998 at various levels and is looking to progress his football education as far as possible within the goalkeeping topic.
